It is located 22 kilometers northwest of Ramallah in the northern West Bank with a population of 2,915 in 2007.
Qarawat Bani Zeid deprived its name from the Arab tribe of Bani Zeid that settled in the town after the victory of Muslim Ayyubid in 1178.
