Dayr Istya village is located 25km southwest of Nablus, with a population of 3,968 in 2007. The land area of DayrIstya is about 74 dunams.
DayrIstiya has been known for the largest areas of land planted with olive trees and is considered to be the largest land area in Salfit Governorate.
The agriculture, particularly the vast amount of olive trees, is considered the backbone of the village's economy. Therefore, there are three oil presses in Dayr Istiya.
